Abstract

Is the Internet the Answer?

Borrowing from the research in his forthcoming book, The Internet Is Not The Answer, Andrew Keen argues that the Internet is not an ideal platform for the creation of human and economic prosperity in the 21st century. The Internet, Keen argues, has actually widened the gulf between rich and power and between a tiny cultural and social elite and everyone else. In addition to offering a critique of the digital revolution, Keen will present ways in which the Internet can actually become an engine of human and economic prosperity. This, he says, will come with a mixture of legislation, regulation and the development of Internet companies with a greater sense of responsibility to the social good.
