Global Peter Drucker Forum Preliminary Program Register now Thought Leadership
Dear Reader,
This week in London, at a launch event for the 2016 Global Peter Drucker Forum, I was asked about the deeper significance of this year's Forum's theme. My response – "Brexit" – caused some laughter. Everyone seems to surf on the shock-wave of Britain's decision to exit the EU. In fact there is a very serious linkage between the Drucker Forum theme and the tectonic shifts we are seeing at a global level. Institutions that lack entrepreneurial spirit lose their ability to self-renew and respond to changing requirements, and rapidly become bureaucratic, ossified, and blinded by ideology. In an entrepreneurial society governments would be closer to their citizens and thus better able to understand their needs and deeper concerns. In this sense this year's Forum should be seen as an urgent wake-up call to those in charge of institutions and organizations in every sector, whether public, private or civil.

With my regards and good wishes
Richard Straub
