These initiatives are large, national-level innovation programs, built around specific industries to accelerate system-level innovation at scale. In innovation superclusters, corporations can add the punch to quickly grow innovative ideas into profitable operations. In practice, corporations struggle to adapt to the speed and flexibility required in ecosystems. Their management practices and governance principles are not adequate for joint businesses. The sole entity of its kind in the world, the platform has attracted more than 1000 cluster organisations from Europe and beyond to use it as a hub for finding partners, initiating collaboration and rapidly accessing complex cluster-relevant information (see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clustercollaboration.eu\/cluster-mapping\">mapping functionality for cluster organisations<\/a> and for the <a href=\"https:\/\/interactivetool.eu\/EASME\/EOCIC\/EOCIC_2.html\">regional ecosystem scoreboard<\/a>) in a community-like ecosystem. She pointed out the huge difference between looking at individual clusters\/ecosystems in isolation or as part of a larger grouping: only as part of interconnected networks can clusters unleash their full power.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2441\" src=\"https:\/\/www.druckerforum.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lucia-Seel-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1022\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.druckerforum.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lucia-Seel-5.png 1022w, https:\/\/www.druckerforum.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lucia-Seel-5-300x79.png 300w, https:\/\/www.druckerforum.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lucia-Seel-5-768x203.png 768w, https:\/\/www.druckerforum.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lucia-Seel-5-830x219.png 830w, https:\/\/www.druckerforum.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lucia-Seel-5-230x61.png 230w, https:\/\/www.druckerforum.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lucia-Seel-5-350x92.png 350w, https:\/\/www.druckerforum.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lucia-Seel-5-480x127.png 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1022px) 100vw, 1022px\" \/><br \/>(\u00a9 Sarah Zareian)<\/p>\n<p>Another session closely related to the cluster approach was that on \u201cManaging Innovation in Ecosystems\u201d, chaired by <strong>Philippe Dewost<\/strong>, co-founder of Wanadoo and author of the 2013 report to French Prime Minister on how to make France\u2019s innovation ecosystems more attractive to foreign investors \u2014 the report sparked the government-supported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gouvernement.fr\/en\/la-french-tech\">La French Tech<\/a>. Although not mentioned as such, cluster organisations appeared as instrumental in managing the collaborative processes within ecosystems \u2013 Cambridge professor <strong>Peter Williamson<\/strong> referred to them as \u201corchestrators of the ecosystem\u201d. <strong>Noboru Konno<\/strong>, chairman of the Japan Innovation Network and president of the Future Center Alliance Japan, talked about the Japanese approach of cluster-like ecosystems.
