He observed that \u2018\u2018everyone who would be affected by the decision knew what it was about \u2013 whether he (or she) liked it or not \u2013 and was prepared for it. There was <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b>no need to sell the decision \u2013 it\u2019s been sold.\u2019\u2019 <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">At a time when the business of technology is about moving quickly and in stealth mode, the winning strategy for IT in the 21<\/span><\/span><sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">st<\/span><\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> century is about leveraging intellectual property, protecting valuable data and deep-pocket investments. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b>Yet what would happen if soon the managerial wisdom in decision-making would be replaced to even a greater extent with machines and augmented intelligence?<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">According to <\/span><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/zackfriedman\/2018\/08\/06\/ibms-hr-chief-shares-best-advice-on-the-future-of-work\/?utm_source=Sailthru#626caa623dc4\"><span style=\"color: #00000a; text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Diane Gherson<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">,<\/span> IBM\u2019s<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> Chief Human Resources, <\/span><\/span><b><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>the number one job skill<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/b><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> that the next generation will need to thrive at work is <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b>the ability to work with data and analytics<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">. Will algorithmic become the new literacy, a prerequisite to participate successfully in global competitiveness rate? <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Yet this is not the only skill, especially if a company wants to obtain competitive advantage in the long run. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The most successful teams of the future will be able to harness tech innovation, not only because of robust data sets, stellar software and mighty hardware. They will be able to use their own brains, hearts and hands skillfully, in synergy and at global scale. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">In other words, technology teams ready for the future will have managerial skills that robots cannot replicate: they will be able to gather resources quickly and make solid decisions despite market ambiguity and <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">changing tech landscape; <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">they will be able to reason critically, use creativity to the fullest, and especially bounce back with their brains and problem-solving skills even if technology collapses. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Below are <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b>three trends that affect global and innovative businesses<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> and where <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b>artificial intelligence and deep learning <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">can help to a large extent. Still, the success of thousands of companies will depend heavily on skills that algorithms and data cannot recreate: the human touch, empathy and the culture of open innovation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b>1) From Information Overconsumption to Wisdom<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><i> <\/i><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b>(of Humans and Machines) <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Just like people who face unhealthy eating choices, many knowledge workers are overwhelmed with too much information. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The role of Artificial Intelligence is to automate mundane tasks for knowledge workers and decision-makers as well as to showcase market insights that help businesses grow and improve the quality of people\u2019s lives. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Our industry and society will move from machine learning and machine intelligence, to machine consciousness.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">AI-powered assistants such as Siri, Alexa, Watson and Cortana keep training while humans sleep. Smarter choices will prepare us for the ultra-marathon of our careers and volatility market. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b>2) Accurate and Complex Decision-Making Thanks to Data and Soft Skills<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Expert technology teams try to help enterprise clients bring long-lasting behavior change with both data and empathy. The challenges are huge. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">One of the latest reports on digital transformation, compiled by <\/span><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.capgemini.com\/gb-en\/news\/cultural-issues-are-the-number-one-obstacle-to-digital-transformation-as-digital-cultural\/\"><span style=\"color: #00000a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Capgemini and Brian Solis<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> identified a strong disconnect between perception of company innovation among senior management and employees. In this report 1,700 respondents from top management in 340 organizations and eight countries were surveyed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">37% of respondents stated that their organizations have a culture of innovation, experimentation and risk-taking, whereas 75% of senior executives think the same.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Thousands of companies will benefit from digital transformation internal and external consultants who will enable them to digitalize their business models, upgrade their sales funnels and optimize operations. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">For those reasons, Austrian Chamber of Commerce educated the first cohorts of digital transformation consultants under government-supported initiative <\/span><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wko.at\/Content.Node\/kampagnen\/KMU-digital\/index.html?shorturl=kmudigitalat\"><span style=\"color: #00000a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">KMU Digital<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">, while the first generation of 20 consultants was certified in September 2018 in Serbia thanks to the pilot project of Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Serbian Chamber of Commerce and GIZ. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Companies may work with various stakeholders in order to evoke the innovation mindset and constantly upgrade it. They can do this irrespective of market conditions because their business does not grow in silos. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Also insights that company teams get from data should be analyzed in the context of human behavior, not as if the information itself is sufficient. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b>3) Human-Centered Leadership in IT Sector and Creating Strategic Alliances <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">It was only after the Cambridge Analytica scandal that it dawned how more restrictions should be imposed on IT sector so that <\/span><\/span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/ideas\/2018\/03\/22\/computer-science-faces-ethics-crisis-the-cambridge-analytica-scandal-proves\/IzaXxl2BsYBtwM4nxezgcP\/story.html\"><span style=\"color: #00000a;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">social freedom, privacy and safety are never again jeopardized<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonglobe.com\/ideas\/2018\/03\/22\/computer-science-faces-ethics-crisis-the-cambridge-analytica-scandal-proves\/IzaXxl2BsYBtwM4nxezgcP\/story.html\"><span style=\"color: #00000a; text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">According to author Yonatan Zunger,<\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">s<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">oftware engineers still \u2018\u2018do not perceive safety and ethics as the foundations of all design\u2019\u2019. The young engineers believe \u2018\u2018they just need to learn to code, change the world, disrupt something.\u2019\u2019 Business leaders also too often forget to be accountable \u2018\u2018They focus on getting a product out fast, confident that they will not be responsible if that product fails catastrophically.\u2019\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Thus it is high time that <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b>technical teams who disrupt <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">how society communicates and behaves<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b> are held accountable for any misconducts<\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"> that affect <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i><b>our privacy and institutional order. <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Let us remember Peter Drucker\u2019s thoughts in Managing in a Time of Great Change, \u2018\u2018The question that faces the strategic decision-maker is not what his organization should do tomorrow.
