Biography

Jarmo Eskelinen is the CEO of Forum Virium Helsinki, the innovation company of the City of Helsinki. Forum Virium manages a large international project portfolio, including the open smart city toolbox CitySDK, Smart Kalasatama pilot area in Helsinki and 6Aika - Open And Smart Services, joint strategy of the six largest cities of Finland. Jarmo is also former president and current council member of the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL), and task force member of the Open & Agile Smart Cities network, which has expanded rapidly to cover of 50+ cities in Europe and the Americas.

Educated as an architect, Jarmo is an expert in smart cities, user driven design and open data. Previously Jarmo has been the director of the Media Centre Lume of the Aalto University, program director of the Helsinki 2000 European Capital of Culture, and a successful culture & media sector entrepreneur.

In his spare time Jarmo cycles, runs and as a former DJ buys more music than he ever has time to listen to.
