Biography

Dr. Christian Stöcker, has been working as a staff writer and editor for the science and web-world desks at SPIEGEL ONLINE since 2005. Since 2011 he is the head of SPIEGEL ONLINE´s web, tech and media desk "Netzwelt". He was born and raised in Wuerzburg, studied psychology in Wuerzburg and Bristol and completed a PhD in cognitive psychology in 2003. After that he completed a degree in Culturual Criticism in Munich while working as a freelance writer for a number of German publications, including SPIEGEL ONLINE, Die Zeit and the Sueddeutsche Zeitung. In 2007 he published a book on the virtual World "Second Life", in 2011 a book called "Nerd Attack" about the history of the digital world with special reference to the development in Germany, in 2012 a book about the web guerrilla Anonymous, published with two SPIEGEL ONLINE colleagues. He has held a variety of different teaching positions in psychology, journalism and arts and is a sought-after moderator and speaker.
