Abstract

«Leadership and Successful Strategy Implementation –
How to Align People to your Strategy»
Does anybody know a company that still applies the exact same strategy as five years ago, let alone ten years ago? Can any company afford not to adjust its strategy in these increasingly volatile times – and implement any changes to it successfully?

It is a different world now. In the context of macro-economic changes, Angelika Bergmann will explain MCE’s approach to Leadership for the successful implementation of Strategy and Change. In her speech, "Leadership and Successful Strategy Implementation - How to Align People to your Strategy", she will talk about MCE’s experiences working with organizations and individual managers who are challenged with implementing a new strategy or change… and getting their people aligned to it. She will walk the audience through some of the basic concepts and practical tools MCE uses to successfully implement company strategies and company change.

Angelika will share three important conclusions with conference attendees:
1. The personal behaviour of leaders is important in influencing how people think and act, but it is not the only influence – there are at least five other dimensions of influence that leaders and change agents must manage.

2. The leadership and people practices in the organization must support the strategic direction of the organization, not be a copy-pasted “best practice” from a different organization with a different strategy.

3. The various people policies, practices and systems must be congruent with each other in order to provide a consistent message to the people in the organization.
