Biography

Thomas Bergen got his business and economics degree from the University of St. Gallen.
He was vice president of Migros Bank, the fifth largest bank in Switzerland, where he began his career in 1993. In 1999, Thomas co-founded getAbstract, a book summary company that provides managers around the world with high-end business knowledge. Around the same time, he started lecturing on entrepreneurship at the University of St. Gallen. In 2005, Thomas moved to the United States to ramp up getAbstract’s US sales and to expand its business into the Americas. After a successful launch, Thomas returned to Switzerland in 2010 to run getAbstract’s global business from the Lucerne headquarters.

From 2004 until 2012, he served as a member of the board of the Swiss Management Association, where he was president for two years. He is also a member of the foundation council of the famous monastery in Einsiedeln. Thomas supports businesses in their start-up phase and writes an infrequent column for the German edition of the Harvard Business Review. He also lectures on business-relevant topics at diverse institutions and conferences, such as the World Economic Forum in Davos.
