Associate Programmes Manager – EEP/shiree
CHAIR > DAY 2 > PLENARY I (09:00 – 10:15)
Biography
For the last two years, Christopher Maclay has worked at shiree, the £65 million DFID/Ukaid-funded Economic Empowerment of the Poorest Challenge Fund in Bangladesh. This involves him providing management support to a portfolio of innovative initiatives seeking to create income opportunities for the extreme poor (that is, the poorest 5% of the country). He is currently guiding the development of a fast-food social business which franchises mobile sales outlets to homeless people.
This builds on his previous experience working with former child soldiers in Liberia in 2009 and designing and managing a rural youth entrepreneurship programme in southern Mexico in 2008. He will be moving to Uganda in 2012, where he hopes to develop sustainable development initiatives with conflict-affected youth. Christopher is excited to be returning to Vienna in 2011 after attending the forum in 2010 as one of the winners of the Drucker Challenge essay contest.
